It takes a much more dedicated and skilled to put together an
effective audio piece that others will be interested in listening
to. Anyways, if you want to put together a great podcast, then

Record
Labels Claim Limewire Liable For $75 Trillion in Damages
As a recent court filing against Limewire shows this is
absolutely not the case. Last May, federal district court judge
Kimba Wood granted the record industrys request for a summary
judgement against Limewire. With their winning ticket in hand,
the RIAA withdrew to contemplate the level of statutory and
punitive damages it felt Limewire should pay.

Video
Podcasting is the New Black
Using video to promote your website or off-line business
becomes more popular everyday. Some Internet Marketers are even
ditching those mile-long sales pages and replacing them with
a video that covers the same information but holds the viewer
on the page far longer than that massive amount of text does.
So it only stands to reason that replacing simple audio recordings
with video would be beneficial as well. But video podcasting
has so many more applications than simply acting as a salesman.
- Teachers can podcast their lessons
- Clergy can podcast their sermons
- Real Estate agents can podcast new listings
- Travel Agents can podcast tours
- Musicians can podcast performances
- Authors can podcast book excerpts
- And the list goes on and on...

iTunes
Flexisbility
In the wake of stalling download sales, major record companies
entered into negotiations with Apple for users to have unlimited
use of iTunes music purchases.
According to Bloomberg, talks are in procession with Universal
Music, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group to allow
users more freedom with the purchases they download.
If negotiations are successful, users will be able to transfer
their downloaded songs to an unlimited number of devices and
could backup their files if the originals are damaged or lost.

Podcast
Production Costs
This Adage
article says:
The barriers are low. Audio podcast production can be as
low as $5,000 to 30,000 per episode and video podcasts $50,000
to 150,000 per episode.
That is just not true, there are plenty of professional
podcasts out there that are produced for far less money. In
fact some are produced at less than $50.00 per episode. |

Streaming
Video Lacks Close Caption
The Web as a whole tends to favor those individuals with
their vision intact.
There are a couple of areas of the Web that have benefitted
the visually impaired: Web radio and podcasting services, for
example, are generally free sources of lots of information,
and many of the most popular news sites do daily or weekly audio
recaps of their featured written content. Voice over IP communications,
likewise has brought the convenience of free instant messaging
to those without sight. But for the most part, the Web has been
a silent place that we look at, instead of listen to.
Netflix on Friday, however, revealed that streaming video is
one of those areas on the Web where the hearing impaired also
face a big statistical disadvantage. Even though video, by definition
is something that we consume with our eyes, the audio is often
just as important, and without closed captioning, it can often
be of no use.

NMU
Podcasting
The question of podcasts being used at NMU has been brought
up by ASNMU members recently. Podcasting is the process of recording
a lecture or series of lectures creating audio or video files
and storing them for later playback, said Felicia Flack, director
of information services in the information services department.
Professors can use podcasts to have students listen to lectures
when the professor has to miss class, or they can simply use
them as a supplement to their lectures, or a way to have students
review what was said in class and beef up their notes. It
is especially good for students who do not comprehend things
as quickly as others.
