Apple announced on Monday a much faster iPhone thats half
the price of the current model.
The news is expected to address one of the biggest complaints
about the hugely popular iPhone: That its network is too slow.
CEO Steve Jobs said the new iPhone, which is based on 3G technology,
is 36% faster than top rival Nokias N95 smartphone.
As Fortune.com first reported, the new 8-gigabyte iPhone will
cost $199 and a 16-gigabyte version will cost $299. Jobs says
the new iPhone will be available worldwide starting July 11.
It will allow up to six hours of Web browsing and five hours
of talk time.

06/10/2008 Movies on iTunes in UK
Apple has started offering movies for sale or rent to UK
users of iTunes.
More than 700 titles will be on offer from the launch date,
100 of which will be available in high-definition.
Many of the titles on sale for downloading via iTunes will be
going on sale on the same day they are released on DVD, said
Apple.
New releases cost £10.99 to buy and £3.49 to rent. Movies
from the iTunes library cost £6.99 to buy and £2.49 to rent.
HD versions cost £1 more. |

Christians are statistically on par with national norms
when it comes to being plugged in to digital technologies and
social networks, a new study showed. But the study also found
that the countrys faithful is even more in tune with podcasting
than other adults are.
Results from a study conducted by The Barna Group showed
that 38 percent of evangelicals and 31 percent of other born-again
Christians had listened to a sermon or church teaching via podcasts
– digital recordings available on the Internet – compared
to only 17 percent of other adults.

Apple Canada is reportedly offering a total of $3.54 million
in credits to Canadian iPod owners, in order to settle two lawsuits
over the battery life of the portable music players.
The credits are being offered to owners of first-, second-,

05/06/2008 Royalty Fees Said To Have Piled Up
A federal judge ruled Thursday that the American Society
of Composers, Artists, and Performers aka ASCAP may be owed
as much as $100 million by America Online, Yahoo and Real Networks
for the use of copyrighted material in streaming audio on the
Web.
In a 153-page decision, U.S. District Court Judge William
Conner adopted ASCAPs proposed method for calculating the cost
of a blanket license -- a percentage of each companys music
revenues, but rejected the organization's pitch for a flat three
percent fee, which the court felt was too high.
