Podcasts
Help Writing?
I started using podcasting with children who were lacking
confidence in their writing. I would ask them to record their
ideas and then play it back to themselves so that they could
sound out slowly and replay their ideas to make sure they got
all their ideas on paper before the nerves of the blank page
kicked in.

A
New Podcast Implementation on the Way?
The implementation of podcasts in iOS has traditionally
seemed like an afterthought. In order to find a podcast, you
had to jump over to iTunes, find the episode you wanted, download
it, and then hop back over to the music app to play it, in the
same fashion as you would a playlist. Apple provided no options
to automatically download episodes, subscribe to certain shows,
or sync podcasts across devices. With iOS 6, this could all
change.
If the rumors turn out to be true, Apple will soon be launching
a dedicated podcast app along with iOS 6, which is expected
to be released in fall. Unfortunately, it appears that OS X
users will still have to interact with iTunes in order to manage
podcasts.

How
to Get Into Listening to Podcasts
One thing I love to do more than most is listen to and
watch podcasts, because I am strange when it comes to pumping
sounds into my eardrums as music is not something I am interested
in. I listen to other things instead - things like people --
people speaking. This phenomenon is called podcasting.

Make
a Connection
MAKE DISTINCTIVE CONTENT THAT SUSTAINS A PERSONAL CONNECTION
There is something that feels direct and personal about listening
to someone talk--perhaps because we associate it with telephone
conversations. Radio is a very personal medium, and podcasts
are even more so because people are choosing them in a way that
they do not choose things on the radio. With talk radio, you
have about five or so choices at any given time; with podcasts,
you have literally tens of thousands, so it is something the
listener made an affirmative choice to listen to, rather than
just something that happened to be on the radio. A podcast has
to be something that can sustain that level of connection.

Podcasting
Borders
If you are a podcaster and American, I am sure you have
never considered launching a podcast in a different language.
Am I right?
Why on earth would you do that?
Why make a decision to bring yourself out of your comfort zone
of speaking your mother tongue?
Why would you speak a language in your podcast that your own
fellow countrymen are not familiar with?

How
to Use Video to Grow Your Business
PreneurCast Podcast Shows You How to Use Video to Grow Your
Business
Videos are able to achieve what written words cannot. They are
oftentimes more effective in capturing the attention of a viewer
since all that the latter has to do is sit back and watch a
story unfold. Unfortunately, not many business owners are aware
of the capacity of the video to reach an even greater number
of audiences. This is exactly what the marketing podcast, PreneurCast,
addresses in their latest episode, Be
a Video Boss. |

Charting
Podcasts
On Tuesday Stitcher Radio announced the Stitcher List which
is something like the Billboard Hot 100 for podcasts. Stitcher
is a smartphone app that lets you listen to podcasts and other
online radio on demand, with the stitch part of the name
coming from the ability to create custom stations by stitching
together different shows into a single channel.
The Stitcher List joins the iTunes podcast charts as one of
the few sources for news and information about podcasts.

Tips to a Great Podcast Sound
What defines a good podcast? Make no mistake -- there is
a difference between a good podcast and a not-so-good podcast.
A high-caliber podcast is much more than just decent content.
The sound quality, and the way a podcast is recorded, will impact
the value of the podcast as well. Podcast structure and pre-planning
are also important; do not skimp on the production, as it too
can make or break a podcast.
Podcast production takes effort, but anything worth doing is
worth doing right. Use these tips to help produce a quality
podcast that will be distinguished above other related podcasts...
1. Invest In A Good Microphone
A gritty sounding podcast is tantamount to a radio station that
can not be tuned in completely. Poor quality podcasts are not
going to be tolerated, and listeners will simply unsubscribe
rather than being subjected to a poor quality recording. There
are a variety of microphones available, and different types
are designed for different situations. Find a microphone that
suits your recording environment. Sound quality really does
matter.

Competitive
Intelligence for Webmasters
Some companies compete by getting into the minds of their
competitors. Competitive Intelligence is the process of collecting
information about competitors in a competitive environment.
These tips and tricks will help marketers better understand
competitive intelligence, and how to effectively compete in
their marketplace.
Individuals and companies use a variety of methods to gain information
about their competitors. Some methods are controversial, and
may even be considered unethical, but it is important that you
are aware of them. Even if you don't want to use the questionable
tactics yourself, it is important that you and your staff understand
them, so you can be prepared and protected if your competitors
decide to use them to learn your company strategies or secrets.
