Podcasting Is Not Easy - But It Is Worth It
I read an article this morning that sort of boiled my blood. The premise was that your business should be podcasting for a number of beneficial reasons — one of which is that podcasting is easier than blogging.
The article is based on a number of (varyingly correct and incorrect) assumptions, one of which is that podcasting has not evolved past the stereotype of two white dudes talking about tech in a basement.

See What Podcasts People Are Listening to Right Now
Unlike top charts, searches reveal the long tail: the things that only a few people are looking for at any given time. More people will search for popular podcasts than unpopular ones, but they’ll also search for specific guests or topics. Fang tells Lifehacker that this realtime feed helps people see the wide variety of searches, without the privacy risk of exposing anyone’s search terms.

Even in the US, which had a rich tradition of radio talk shows, the podcast revolution took its time since it began in 2004. The breakthrough moment came with Apple pre-installing its Podcast app on iPhones and the unprecedented success of the true crime podcast Serial, both in 2014.

Nielsen reports on-demand audio streaming up 45 percent year over year. As you might expect, the proliferation of podcasts — and the listening audience that connects to them — also continues. Edison Research indicates that monthly podcast listeners grew from 24 percent of Americans 12+ to 26 percent year over year. And yes, listening of podcasts in vehicles is growing as well.

These are the trends to watch for podcasting in 2019
2019 scene setting. Last year was a strange and busy one in podcast-land, between the shakeups and the bubble talk and the mergers/acquisitions and launches on launches on launches. And from the looks of it, the next year will likely prove equally peculiar. Will podcast audiences and advertising revenue continue to grow? Will non-advertising business models take firm root across the ecosystem? Will Apple still define podcasting by the end of the year? Worth considering, as well, that this community is not immune to the world outside: Will or will there not be a recession?
