Learn
How to Succeed Podcasting
1. Use a direct, intimate, human voice
As a young broadcaster, you are always told radio is one-on-one
communication. And yet many linear radio shows still sound like
one person speaking to many people. The most successful podcasts
speak much more directly and intimately to one person. Radio
is often background listening, something to keep you company.

Reasons Why Podcasting Is Back in the Media Spotlight
I know podcasting is experiencing a resurgence because the
Internet says so.
The number of blog posts and online articles proclaiming an
explosion in the popularity or quality or financial success
of podcasts since the fall of 2014 has been really astonishing.

Ways That Podcasting Is a Powerful Marketing Weapon
Podcasting is quickly morphing from an emerging phenomena
to a powerful and commonplace marketing weapon. Early adopters
started podcasting only about a decade ago, but podcasting has
seen a meteoric rise over the past several years, boosting many
entrepreneurial personalities such as Pat Flynn, John Lee Dumas
and many others into the national spotlight.
So what can you learn from podcasting and why should entrepreneurs
consider getting into what may already be seen as a crowded
market? Here are five ways that podcasting is a powerful marketing
weapon for you and your business.

How
Podcasters are Turning to New Technologies and Partnerships
to Introduce Programmatic Ads
Since podcasts emerged as a medium in the early 2000s, host-read
ads have been one of the primary forms of monetization available
to podcasters. Think of it as podcastings version of native
advertising.

Harnessing
the Power of Podcasting
The internet has finally come of age and down time is history;
we have digital media on demand and in our pocket. If we are
travelling to work, having a bath, cooking, walking the dog,
or even falling asleep, there is a podcast for that. The Mp3
show on our phone or tablet is our aural comfort blanket, a
constant companion; over 17% of Americans choose to snuggle
up to a weekly podcast and 38% of UK internet users have downloaded
a podcast.

Everything
You Need To Know About Podcasting
Why should you care about podcasting?
Podcasting is another way to get your unique message out in
the world and (hopefully) in front of your target audience.
A podcast is not a place to complain about your issues with
your cable provider and their lack of customer service (that
is Twitter). A podcast is not a place where you can put photos
of your cute little niece Gertrude (that is Facebook). A podcast
is not a place to teach people how to put IKEA furniture together,
although with some wit, that could be a highly ironic and funny
podcast to listen to (that is YouTube).

Improving
My Teaching via Podcast
What I ultimately seek from conversations with my colleagues
is inspiration, good ideas for how become a more effective teacher,
and a sense that we share a commitment to helping our students
have deep learning experiences. I tend to seek out the professors
on my campus with whom I know I can have such conversations,
and steer away from the ones who prefer criticizing students
over talking good teaching.
If you share that preference, consider sitting down over
your oatmeal with Bonni Stachowiak and the guests of the Teaching
in Higher Ed podcast, an excellent (and ongoing) entry into
my favorite list of resources for college and university faculty.

Podcasting
finally comes of age in India
New start-ups are catering to the needs of hundreds of thousands
of listeners who want to hear news beyond Bollywood gossip,
listen to experts on different topics, and also let some witty
commentator brighten a few moments of their day.
For millions of listeners in India, radio - whether state-owned
stations or private FM channels - has mostly meant music. Conventional
wisdom is that very few people switch on radio for non-entertainment
listening.
Unsurprisingly, most of the new FM channels, obtained by private
players by bidding hefty licence fees at auctions - the third
phase of auctioning, in which the government has already raised
a whopping Rs12 billion, is still going on - will be focused
primarily on music, both Bollywood and regional films, as that
is where the big bucks (from advertising) rolls in.

Podcasters
Play for Keeps at an Upfront
Podcasters sought to shed any public-radio, non-commercial
vibe that still lingers around the format on Thursday night,
when they pitched their popularity and audience demographics
to advertisers at the Interactive Advertising Bureaus first
podcast upfront.
