Do
Your Podcasts Hurt Your Ratings?
Each station has its target audience, just as podcasters
do. Most podcasts target specific topics such as local sports,
cooking, lifestyle and health. These shows are usually weekly
or monthly, and require great length and longer time periods
to interact with listeners prior to putting out the next episode.
With radio, the conversation with the audience is immediate.
You can call in to win tickets and prizes, speak with the host
and even request your favorite song. With podcasting, you rely
off of comments from previous shows, social media and other
means of communication prior to the show being recorded.

Age of podcasting. Is this truly a golden age of podcasting,

As
Podcasts Grow, the Podcast Freelance Economy Takes Shape
In an effort to establish benchmarks for how much freelance
audio producers should be paid in the new medium, the Association
of Independents in Radio has released a new guide and standard
contract outlining standard rates for various types of segments
and work.
AIR, an advocacy group for independent radio producers, has
previously worked with NPR and other public media outlets to
establish freelance pay rates, but this is the first time AIR
has explicitly addressed payment for work on podcasts.

Why
The Future of Podcasting Looks Bright
The surge in podcast popularity is on the rise as media
consumption habits continue to change. Since 2014, monthly audio
podcast consumption grew from 39 to approximately 46 million
monthly users, according to Edison Research.
The medium’s growth has piqued advertiser interest, generated
spinoff networks, aggregation apps and podcast shows from major
publishers to mom bloggers.

Podcasting
Is the Future of Journalism
When a podcaster can get the president of the United States
to sit down for a long, rambling interview in his garage, I
think it is time for the rest of us to acknowledge that podcasting
is the future of journalism.
