The Case for Podcasts in Your Marketing Mix
It is a crowded content space out there. Attention spans are limited and people are busy. So, consider this: Podcasting is the only form of content that can be consumed while an individual is doing other activities. Yet they remain underutilized in higher education. Written content, videos and images all have their place and should be strategically deployed, but they do not afford the same flexibility as podcasts, which can be listened to while doing housework, driving or exercising.
Edison Research, which monitors podcast adoption, has found that 21% of Americans 12 and older have listened to a podcast in the last month.

A few years back, everyone was talking about 3D TV.
It was, people predicted, going to be the next big thing in television. TV makers such as Sony, LG and Samsung ramped up production of 3D TVs. Networks like ESPN and Discovery announced plans for 3D broadcasts. Analysts forecast huge demand for the medium.

Why You Are Only Competing With 20% Of Other Podcasters On iTunes
Today I want to cover the 80/20 rule which was aptly named the Pareto principal. This video was inspired my good friend Max Pepe from Rebelhead Entrepreneurs who covered the topic for entrepreneurs on his video log recently but I want to talk about the 80/20 rule in terms of podcasting.
So if you take a look at iTunes or Stitcher Radio or any of the other big podcast directories out there you might see hundreds of thousands of podcasts already out there, perhaps lots of podcast on the topic that you are already thinking about covering.

2016: the year the podcast came of age
The choice of medium was significant. Podcasts, series of digital audio files that users can download or stream from MP3 players and computers, were first created in 2001. This was also the year that Apple launched the iPod, the device from which podcasting takes its name. Although it is now, in tech terms, a doughty 15 years old, it has developed only fitfully.

UK Podcasting Stats
UK podcast audiences
In the UK some listening figures are provided by RAJAR, who are responsible for radio industry audience ratings.
Following its autumn 2015 research it claims 3.7 million adults listen to podcasts, which equates to around 6.5% of the adult population (OfCom’s last figures from 2010 put it at 7%).
RAJAR also provided a breakdown of device used.
Smart phone 57%
Lap tops 16%
Digital music players 15%
